This is a great tour for the adventurous and photographers, as well as trekkers. You will have opportunities to profit breathtaking views of rice terrace fields stretching to the top of the mountains, to visit some ethnic villages. After overcoming the mountain pass, visitors will be satisfied with the view of the terraced fields in the dusky mist and pure white clouds. The all-yellow hillsides of ripe rice seedlings, circling around the terraces - all of these things make up a dreamy beauty; enchanting, romantic and serene. 

 

DAY 1: HANOI/ NGHIA LO (201 km) (L,D)

7.30: Welcome by Guide & Driver at your hotel. Route to Nghia Lo via the new Noi Bai-Lao Cai Highway.

 

Nghia Lo is a town of Yen Bai set in a valley, dotted with beautiful scenery that reflects the calm lifestyle of its native ethnic groups’ culture and home to Shan tea trees more than 100 years old.

 

Lunch en route.

Arrival.  Free time to explore Nghia Lo. Dinner. O/N at Nghia Lo.

 

DAY 2: NGHIA LO/ MU CANG CHAI/ SAPA (B,L,D) (240km)

After breakfast, route to Mu Cang Chai via Khau Pha pass. Stop en route to De Xu Phin, La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha to take photos of rice terrace fields.  Lunch en route.

Continue to Sapa. Arrival & check in. Free time to explore the ancient quarter of Sapa with its daily market, Sapa church.

Dinner. O/N in Sapa.

 

DAY 3: SAPA (Saturday) (B,L,D)

AM: Trekking  at Ta Phin village, home to Ethnic Red Daos. Back to sapa for Lunch.

PM: Trekking towards Muong Hoa valley to visit Lao Chai & Ta Van villages, home to Black Hmong & Giay ethnic group. Back to Sapa. Dinner. O/N in Sapa

 

DAY 4: SAPA/ BAC HA (Sunday)/ HANOI (B,L,D) (120km + 120km))

Early transfer to Bac Ha, a commune of Lao Cai province where is held the Sunday market, the most colorful one in Northern Highlands. Time to explore this vast public market filled with locals from the various hill tribes.

 

 

Lunch at Bac Ha.

After lunch, transfer  to a short visit of the 1920’s house of Hoang A Tuong, a tribal mandarin under French colonial rule, then to Ban Pho village, home to the Flower H’mong., where  is made a special wine from corn.

Transfer back to Lao Cai, stop at Ha Khau sino vietnamese border, then to restaurant for dinner before boarding the night train back to Hanoi.  O/N in A/C 4 berth couchette compartment (1st class)

 

DAY 5: HANOI

Early  arrival at Hanoi.  End of our services.
