Thua Thien is a province located in the Northern Central Vietnam, with Hue as city. lt is bordered by Quang Tri province in the north, Da Nang city and Quang Nam province in the south with Hai Van mountain pass, Laos People’s Democratic Republic in the west with Truong Son range and the East Sea in the east with 120km of coastline.
Hue city, 600 km south Hanoi capital, 1,080 km north of Ho Chi Minh city, was the capital city under Nguyen dynasty.
With its complex of monuments including palaces, pagodas, royal tombs and surrounded areas of the Imperial city, Hue is recognized World Cultural Heritages by UNESCO in 1993, as well as Nha Nhac (Royal Music) proclaimed by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2003.
Lang Co Beach
Area: 5,033.2 km2
Population: 1,103,100 people composed of ethnic groups such as: Viet, Hoa, Ta Oi, Co Tu, Bru, Van Kieu.
Topography: The province has a multi-step shape terrain
     + Mountains with ¼ of the province area, stretching from Vietnamese-Laotian border to Danang city.
     + Midland area with ½ of the province area, 500m above sea level, with some hundreds wide.
     + Delta with 1,400 km2 appropriate to short and long term trees.
Rivers: are short but large at downstream. Major rivers are: O Lau, Rao Trang, Rao Lau, Rao Mai, Ta Trach, Huu Trach (the 2 Perfume river’s tributaries). 2 important estuaries: Thuan An, Tu Hien.
Administrative units: 9 units (1 city, 2 towns, 6 districts)
Thua Thien - Hue is in the monsoon tropical area, with two seasons: hot in dry season and wet in rainy season, with an annual average temperature about 25.60C. 
     + Dry season from May to September: due to the influence of southwest winds, the temperature is dry and hot. The annual average temperature is 27/290C, the temperature in May and June may reach 38/400C.
     + Rainy season from October to March next year: due to the northeast monsoonal winds, it is very rainy and fresh. The annual average temperature is approximately 20/220C. Rainfall is very important from September to February, most important in November, causing flood and erosion. Typhoons often occur from August to October.
Hue city
Hue city is situated on the banks of the Perfume River, just a few miles inland from the East Sea. 
+ Location: North of Hai Van Pass, 112km north of Danang city, 14 km west of Thuan An beach, 14km north of Phu Bai International Airport and 50km north of Chan May deep seaport.
+ Area: 86.3km2
+ Population: 338,994 inhabitants (2010)
+ Topography: Hue is located in the delta of the Perfume river downstream region, with an average elevation ¾ meters above sea level, relatively flat  with some small mountains and hills, often flooded when rainfall occurs upstream.
+ Climate: Hue has the same features as Thua Thien province itself.
Sights of interest
Hue is not only famous for its interesting natural landscapes but also for its cultural heritage of ancient Capital, preserving a huge historical complex of monuments having unique architecture recognized as a World Cultural Heritage. Furthermore, Hue is dotted with immaterial cultural treasure including popular festivals and traditional musics, among which Court music of Hue, one of the 28 cultural intangible masterpieces of mankind that were passed down to other generations orally, is recognized as UNESCO intangible heritage.
Huong river (literally translated “Perfume river”) is a river that crosses the capital city of Hue, around 80 kilometers long, and owes its name to the fact that it flows through many forests of aromatic plants before reaching Hue, bringing with it a pure and fresh aroma. From its source, it flows next to the mountains foot, through dense forests.

From upstream the Perfume river flows around the foot of the mountains, through dense tropical forests, then villages like Kim Long, Nguyet Bieu, Vy Da, Dong Ba, Gia Hoi, Dinh market, Nam Pho, with a complex of monuments on its banks including royal tombs, citadel and rampart, towns, gardens, pagodas, towers and temples. Huong river has been the source of inspiration of many visitors as they sailed along the river to look at the scenery and listen to the traditional Hue songs.
   + Ngu Binh mount, also named Bang Son, 4 km from the core of Hue city, with an elevation of 103 meters, on the right bank of Perfume river, between Con and Hen islets, serves as a screen protecting the Citadel opposite on the left bank.
   + The complex of Hue relics recognized as the World Cultural Heritages in 1993 consist of monuments built by the Nguyen Dynasty in the period from the early 19th century to the first half of the 20th century at Hue ancient capital, including the Citadel, Nguyen Kings’ tombs, pagodas and other monuments built under Nguyen Dynasty:
- Hue Citadel, the place where the Nguyen dynasty has settled their capital during 140 years, from 1802 to 1945,  on the North bank of Perfume river, with a 520 hectare-area. The Citadel and all its architectural structures are facing south.
- The royal tombs consist of 9 Tombs for Nguyen Lords and 7 tombs for Nguyen Emperors. Since most of the tombs were built during the Emperor’s lifetime, they are places not only for burial but for Kings to take a rest and entertain also. In all, there were 13 Kings; however, due to various reasons, there are only 7 KIngs' tombs, three of which (Minh Mang, Tu Duc, Khai Dinh tombs) are frequently visited by domestic and international tourists due to their glamorous architectural features.
- Pagodas: In Hue, there arehundred of famous ancient pagodas, each pagoda has special characteristics, some pagoda associated with legend of mysterious anecdote, among which the most famous are Thien Mu, Tu Hieu, Bao Quoc, Tu Dam pagodas.

- Other architectural structures: Phu Van Lau pavilion where keeps court’s  documents; Nghinh Luong Dinh pavilion, a place reserved to the King to enjoy the fresh-air and view the landscape; Hon Chen temple for the cult of Yana Heaven Goddess; Ho Quyen arena where duels between elephants and tigers were arranged for the entertainment of the Emperors, their royal family and mandarins; Nam Giao Esplanade, an open-air monument used to offer ceremonies to God; An Dinh palace, the residence of the 12th Nguyen Emperor and later for his successor Bao Dai.

Bach Ma Mountain, with an elevation of 1,450 meters, is the last part of the Truong Son mountain range and is the center of the remaining natural forest stretching from Vietnam East Sea to the Vietnamese-Laotian border, 60 km south of Hue.
The mountain, located in Bach Ma National Park, was established to preserve the biodiversity  of flora and fauna in the transition climate zone between the North and the South.
Bach Ma national park belongs to Phu Loc hamlet, Nam Dong commune, Thua Thien province and still preserves diversified flora and immense old-growth forest.
Flora is various with 1.406 species and more than 300 herb species.
Fauna consists of  931 species: 83 species of animals, 333 species of birds, 31 species of frog, and 39 species of fish…, especially, Bach Ma is the place of some rare birds.
Bach Ma national park has beautiful scenery and fresh air. This is the most important eco-tourist resources of Bach Ma area. Once visiting Bach Ma national park, tourist will have opportunities to explore mysterious nature such as: Tri Sao trail, Do Quyen trail, Ngu ho trail, Hai Vong Dai trail. Tourists can see the ancient houses built by French architects at the top of the mountain.
